  1. Stone Brewing Co. says, “WE NEED YOU in the fight against expired beer! When you report “out of code” beer, we replace it with fresh beer, ensuring that only the tastiest Stone beer is available in your area. So check the date code on the shoulder of the bottle before you buy, and if it’s expired, earn craft beer karma by reporting it here.”

    1. I just got my first Stone Brewing Co. beer and it tastes very bitter and skunky. The bottom edge of the bottle says “N21 01 12”. The “01” looks combined though like some kind of symbol instead of an 01 maybe. So it might just mean 12 for December then it’s still good?…

      1. Hi Alan,

Sounds like the best before date is likely January 2012 on that bottle. A lot of Stone’s beers are bitter, but skunky isn’t a normal trait. If the beer was stored under lights, it’s likely that the skunking is from “light struck” effect. You can report expired beers to Stone via their website at http://www.stonebrew.com/freshbeer/ so they can get a brewery or distributor representative into that retail location to work with them to ensure they keep the product fresh for beer lovers.

        Cheers,
        Tiffany
